This month we invite our Autotech Council and Cleantech Council communities to a joint meeting exploring the rapidly evolving world of EV Charging. This meeting is a deep dive into the technologies, business models, and startups shaping the future of EV charging infrastructure.

While early adopters may have tolerated homebase charging options and inconsistent experiences on the road, the next wave of EV buyers and fleet owners expect a seamless and reliable charging experience comparable to using a gas station. Industry's challenge is to build accessible, user-friendly, readily available, and dependable charging solutions.

The good news is that where there's a challenge, there's opportunity.

The demand for better EV charging solutions is fueling a wave of innovation across the industry. From advancements in charging hardware and software to new business models and policy initiatives, the race is on to build the charging infrastructure of the future. With experience and scale, the cost per unit of EV charging stations is beginning to drop, meaning that private funding may be adequate to continue accelerating roll-out.

This meeting will touch on topics such as:

  • Solutions for Fleet, on-prem, and hospitality charging: Commercial EV operators have different needs than private EV owners, but they also can leverage downtime for opportunistic charging, inductive charging, and have some opportunities not available to private players.
  • Changes in the political environment: We'll examine how government policies and incentives, like the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), are shaping the EV charging landscape.
  • The rise of IRA-subsidized charging stations: We'll explore the impact of government funding on the deployment and accessibility of charging infrastructure.
  • Progress of standardization on NACS in the USA and CCS elsewhere: We'll discuss the ongoing battle between charging standards and the implications for interoperability and user experience.
  • Increasing rates of charge: We'll delve into the latest advancements in fast charging and the race to reduce charging times.
  • EV Chargers shift from loss leader to profit center
  • EV Chargers and synergy with retail (measured at +5% in sales)
  • Employer and facilities charging
  • Hurdles to site deployment: We'll analyze the challenges of deploying charging infrastructure, including permitting, grid capacity, and land acquisition.
  • Grid readiness: We'll examine the impact of EVs on the power grid and discuss solutions for managing the increased electricity demand.
  • Emerging business models: We'll explore innovative approaches to EV charging, such as mobile charging, battery swapping, and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology.
  • Pre-fab charging stations, which reduce deployment costs and effort
  • Improving the user experience: We'll discuss the importance of user-friendly interfaces, reliable charging equipment, and convenient payment options.

Meeting Format

Our public meetings start with an industry overview followed by an expert panel, and then moves to tech demos and startup pitches. The 4-hour agenda also includes 3 networking breaks and lunch for attendees.

Attendees leave our meetings having learned about the state of innovation, discovered many, game-changing startups, reviewed new technologies, and met industry colleagues who are also moving the needle in EVs and EV charging - plus a handful of business cards and interesting lunch conversations.

This meeting is jointly produced by the Autotech Council and the Cleantech Council.

Introduce your product or service to OEMs, Tier1s, and tech scouts. Applications are reviewed and invitations extended based on fit.

Meeting Tables will be available to presenters who wish to demo their product or service to our audience in a private networking space.
